VP Engineering / CTO · Engineering leader
I build engineering organisations
that deliver reliably.
I have spent fifteen years leading engineering across finance and retail, from payment systems to production LLMs. I am now looking for my next full-time VP Engineering or CTO role.

I build organisations that keep delivering under pressure.
I have built teams from scratch, stabilised a fragmented organisation through migrations and production incidents, and developed managers who could run it without me. Colleagues describe me as calm under pressure, willing to challenge a decision when needed, generous with autonomy and close enough to the work to give practical guidance.
I work with executive teams on strategy and budgets, but I stay close to the architecture, infrastructure and code. That includes applied AI: computer vision and chatbots in 2016, then production RAG, a self-hosted fine-tuned model, and recent work on agentic commerce and AI-assisted customer support at Chantelle.
I still build.
- Built for myself
- This site and its publishing pipeline: Astro, self-hosted, deployed on every push.
- A personal finance and asset tracker I built and use every day.
- A rotating set of AI side-projects, from RAG to autonomous agents.
- In the open
- gatsby-source-personio, a Gatsby plugin I wrote and published to npm.
- Helped bring FrankenPHP worker mode to Magento 2, through merged pull requests on OpenGento.
- Negotiated Société Générale's corporate sponsorship of Vue.js back when the framework was new (2016–2018).
- Still in the code
- Infrastructure pull requests as a director: platform upgrades, database migrations and runtime tuning, on production systems.
Selected experience
2011–2026- 2021–2026
Director of Engineering
Groupe Chantelle · Cachan (remote-first)
Led 4-5 engineering managers and an organisation of around 30 people. Consolidated six platforms into two, reduced annual costs from €4M to €3M while maintaining a 99.99% SLO, and put Cursor, Claude and a RAG/CAG architecture into production, first on Gemini and then on a self-hosted fine-tuned Gemma.
- 2019–2021
Chief Digital Officer
Société Générale Equipment Finance (SGEF) · Berlin
Managing director of a new SGEF subsidiary. Built a digital factory from scratch in under six months, hiring 20-30 people with responsibility for the budget, suppliers and product roadmap. Shipped a risk engine using computer vision (including OCR) and machine learning that cut credit analysis from about two weeks to a day.
- 2015–2019
Engineering Manager · Innovation & Developer Experience
Société Générale · Paris
Led an innovation lab and a developer-experience group: around 30 people and a €2–3M budget. We built YODA, a support assistant for 150,000 employees years before ChatGPT, and worked on computer vision, robotics and predictive maintenance. I also led the PSD2 API platform and helped expand cloud and open-source adoption.
- 2011–2015
Lead & Full-stack Engineer
Sopra Banking · Société Générale · Min. of Agriculture · Paris / Toulouse
Worked on critical card-payment systems and PCI-DSS compliance, then led development of an investor-relations application that won two awards in 2016. For the Ministry of Agriculture, I built an offline-first field application for travelling inspectors, including route optimisation and synchronisation with conflict handling.
I also advise a small number of teams.
I help founders and engineering leaders work through architecture, platform and applied-AI decisions when a full-time hire is not yet the right fit.
In their words
“A remarkable leader that people stay for. He never lost touch with the details, stayed calm when things got hard, and made even the toughest stretches feel manageable. Any team would be lucky to have him.”
“As Director of Engineering he drove a bold, long-term technical vision, turning a complex architecture into a high-performance, lower-maintenance, cost-optimized stack. A deeply supportive leader, protective of his team, he kept everyone steady and retention exceptionally high.”
“His technical leadership and steady judgment made a real difference. He guided multiple migrations and resolved critical production issues with calm, confident efficiency, combining deep expertise with dependable, people-focused leadership.”
