Fractional CTO · AI-era engineering leader

I build and transform
engineering organizations.

Fifteen years from bank monetics to production LLMs. Still hands-on, from Terraform to org design.

I have been doing AI since before it was cool.

In 2016 my teams at Société Générale were building chatbots, OCR and computer vision on PyTorch and TensorFlow, years before generative AI reached the headlines. In 2025 I put retrieval-augmented LLMs into production at Chantelle. The distance between those two points is the work I care about: taking a technology from promising to dependable.

I lead at executive altitude and I still ship. I can size a COMEX budget in the morning and write the Terraform, the pipeline and the service in the afternoon. That combination is rare, and it is the reason the transformations I run actually land instead of stalling in a slide deck.

Selected experience

  • 2021–2026

    Director of Engineering

    Groupe Chantelle

Led ~30 people across Berlin and near-shore teams. Rationalised six platforms down to two, cut annual run-rate from €4M to €3M, and put a first-wave GenAI stack (RAG on pgvector, Gemini, n8n) into a global lingerie retailer.

  • 2019–2021

    Chief Digital Officer

    SG Equipment Finance · Berlin

Built a 30-person digital factory from zero in under six months, with full delegation over hiring, budget and roadmap. Shipped an OCR, computer-vision and ML risk engine that cut analysis time by 80%.

  • 2015–2019

Engineering Manager · Innovation & Developer Experience

    Société Générale

Ran the innovation lab and the developer-experience group on a €2–3M budget. Chatbots before ChatGPT, computer vision and robotics, the PSD2 API platform, and cloud and open-source adoption.

  • 2011–2015

    Lead & Full-stack Engineer

Sopra Banking · Société Générale · Min. of Agriculture

Critical card-payment systems and PCI-DSS compliance, an award-winning investor application, and an offline-first field app that retired the paper trail for inspectors.

What I take on

Four ways to put a senior engineer in the room.

01

Fractional & interim CTO

Engineering leadership on tap: strategy, org design and delivery for scaleups and teams in transition.

02

AI & applied-LLM advisory

From RAG and agents to what is actually worth building. I have been shipping AI since 2016, not since 2023.

03

Cloud & platform transformation

AWS and GCP, platform engineering, and the unglamorous work of making delivery faster and cheaper.

04

E-commerce architecture

Magento, Adobe Commerce and BigCommerce: consolidation, performance, and real cost taken out.

Available now for advisory and fractional engagements, and open to full-time engineering leadership roles.

In their words

“A remarkable leader that people stay for. He never lost touch with the details, stayed calm when things got hard, and made even the toughest stretches feel manageable.”
Fabian KempertTest Manager, Groupe Chantelle
“A leader who gives you the autonomy to deliver while always being present. Someone the team can rely on for support, advice and help.”
Sabrina ColardProduct Manager, ex-Innovation Lab, Société Générale
“An inspiring IT manager, a careful and ambitious strategist, and a proactive perfectionist.”
